What is AIC

The American Institute of Constructors, the AIC, is a national professional organization promoting individual professionalism and excellence throughout the related field of construction. The AIC was formed in 1970, and since then, has grown to 15 Nation-Wide Chapters. In 1994, the AIC branched out, and the Wisconsin Chapter was formed. We are headquartered in Milwaukee, and through monthly events September through June, offer many opportunities and activities to promote the construction industry.

What does the Wisconsin Chapter offer?

A Qualifying Body We offer a qualifying body to serve the individual constructor, who has achieved a recognized level of professional competence
Opportunities We offer opportunities for the individual constructor to participate in the process of developing quality standards of practice, and to exchange ideas through networking.
Leadership We offer leadership in achieving and maintaining high ethical standards
Encouragement We offer encouragement of equitable and professional relationships between constructors and all other entities in the construction process.
Environment We thrive in an environment that is designed to enhance the overall standing of the construction profession through educational programs and networking.

Safety

Each fall, AIC-WI teams up with the Milwaukee AGC and the Milwaukee Construction Industry Safety Council (MCISC) for our Safety meeting.

Education

Aside from the above mentioned aspects, we also focus on Education. Each year, we host a Symposium, focusing on the hottest topics in the industry. In the past, we have looked at:

  • Communication Between Generations
  • Green Architecture
  • Secrets to Success in the Construction Industry
  • Crisis Management
  • What's happening with OSHA

Tours

The Wisconsin Chapter offers ideal opportunities for professionals to network and communicate with each other. We hold regular meetings and events featuring guest speakers, construction site tours, and dinners or social hours. Some previous site tours have been:

  • Amtrak Intermodal Facility
  • Miller Park; Home of the Brewers
  • Indian Community School
  • Bayshore Mall renovations

Awards

Every year, the Wisconsin Chapter awards the Constructor of the Year award to an outstanding participant in the Wisconsin construction industry. This award is presented during the awards banquet, which is always our last event of the season.
